Swanzey: Monadnock voters say no - again
Anika Clark of The Keene Sentinel reports, "Although the Monadnock Regional School District's school board and budget committee united in support of the proposed 2007-08 budget, Tuesday's elections revealed a crucial missing link:"
"The voters."
"Voters rejected the budget proposal of $31,850,989, by a count of 1,578 to 1,497. This would have represented a nearly 5 percent increase over the current $30.34 million budget. Instead, the district will now use a default budget of $30,935,825."

Ian Bagley of The Keene Sentinel reports, "A proposal to build a Cheshire County jail in a Swanzey industrial park is going over like a lead balloon with some town residents, who say putting a jail there will hurt the economy and devalue houses in surrounding neighborhoods."
"County Commissioner Roger T. Zerba, D-Keene, said Thursday the county is eyeing a 25-acre parcel near the intersection of Route 32 and Safford Drive as a good place to build a new jail. "
